Ken Duggan came to Dallas Bay while it was still in its infancy. It was 1989 and the mission was meeting in an elementary school. They had called no pastor, but everybody had great hope and faith that God would establish a strong church in the Dallas Bay area. Pastor Ken and his wife, Marilyn, their 3 year old son Adam began visiting before Ken was ever considered as pastor. Since that time they have been blessed to be a part of such a wonderful work. He was officially installed as senior pastor in January of 1990. Their youngest son, Andy, has never known another church home.
Initially, Pastor Ken was only privileged to have earned a Seminary Extension Diploma from the Southern Baptist Convention to add to his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The church was generous enough to pay for Ken’s additional training at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary and Covington Theological Seminary. He earned his Th. D. from Covington while teaching classes at the graduate degree level. In 2009, Pastor Ken earned their Alumni of the year award and was awarded with a second doctorate.
Pastor Ken and his wife Marilyn have said that it has truly been a great joy to see so many lives changed through the ministry of Dallas Bay Baptist. They have been helped by enthusiastic support from the members and a great staff. Dallas Bay has come from one of the smallest churches in the country to being recognized as one of the leading churches in the SBC in evangelism and discipleship training. The Lord has surely been gracious in every step along the way.
